Architect-designed villa Ponto Valentino: Genius Loci in the Blenio Valley
Architect-designed villa Ponto Valentino: Cà Janus was conceived by Ticino architect Francesco Buzzi and completed in 2008/2009 on an elevated site with far-reaching views. From a distance, the house resembles a natural rock formation emerging from the landscape. Two square volumes set on non-orthogonal axes meet at one corner and are united by a shared roof to form a distinctive architectural whole.
Exposed concrete, solid Andeer granite, expansive glazing and pale timber surfaces define the precise material palette. Inside, the two volumes merge into a fluid sequence of spaces. Open passages, diagonal sightlines and generous ceiling heights create striking connections between living, dining, cooking and working areas. Full-height windows draw daylight and the mountain landscape deep into the house.
At the heart of the main living level is a hall that rises to the exposed timber-beam ceiling. It connects the bespoke kitchen, dining area and corner living room. A fireplace integrated between the kitchen and hall creates a welcoming atmosphere. A bedroom, bathroom and two sheltered loggias complete this level. Upstairs are two spacious studios and workrooms, together with a secluded loggia protected from view.
The lower floor contains an approx. 71 m² self-contained annexe with a private entrance, kitchen, living and dining area, bedroom and bathroom. It is ideal for guests, adult children or largely independent use. A wine cellar, storage areas, laundry room, plant room and boiler room complete the accommodation.
The property extends across plots no. 846 and no. 422, providing a total site area of approx. 1’815 m². Above the house is a separate outbuilding with a double garage for two vehicles and additional storage; further outdoor parking spaces are also available. The elevated setting combines privacy, nature and panoramic views with convenient connections to Acquarossa and Biasca.

Cà Janus – space, material and landscape as one
The architect-designed villa Ponto Valentino is intended for those who value distinctive architecture and the direct relationship between living, art and landscape. Its two interlocking volumes continually reveal new perspectives. The generous hall, bespoke kitchen and integrated fireplace form an atmospheric centre, while exposed concrete, granite and natural timber give the house a timeless, authentic presence.
At the same time, the house offers versatile possibilities: studios and workrooms provide space for creativity and focused work, while the independently accessed annexe gives guests or relatives a high degree of autonomy. Around 50 m² of loggias and terraces extend the interiors outdoors and frame the sweeping view across the Valle di Blenio.
